God Makes it Possible

But Jesus looked at them and said, “With men this is impossible, but with God, all things are possible.”

Matthew 19:26

The greatest challenge Jesus gave His followers was to have faith. He knew having faith makes amazing things happen. The man with leprosy had faith, and he was healed (Matthew 8:3). Peter had faith, and he walked on water (Matthew 14:29). Mary and Martha had faith and Lazarus was raised from the dead (John 11:27). How can you tell if you lack faith? You stop believing in the impossible. Lacking faith causes you to settle for the average life.

How do you have the faith that makes things happen?

1. Acknowledge The Mountain. Jesus says the way you move mountains is through your faith (Matthew 17:19-20). Before you can move the mountain, you must acknowledge the mountain. The biggest mountain you move is not the one in front of you, but the one inside of you. A few examples are fears, faults, failures, family, and friends. If you’re going to move a mountain in your life, acknowledge it’s there and needs to be moved.

2. Face the Facts. I imagine the Apostle John had to have great faith when he was imprisoned on Patmos for his faith. John says in John 6:29: “This is the work of God—that you believe in the One He has sent.” Facing the facts with faith means regardless of how overwhelming the situation looks, you’re going to attack it head-on, because you know God is with you and is ready to help you.

3. Ask God for Help. Once you acknowledge there’s a mountain and faced the facts, it’s time to pray, pray, pray. There are many things you can do without praying, but moving a mountain-size problem is not one of them. For moving mountains, you need God’s help. Pray, “God, I need your help!” And keep praying until God does the impossible.

4. Take The Step of Faith. Once you’ve prayed and asked for God’s help, don’t assume you’re off the hook. You’re not! God’s going to use you to move the mountain. Remember, Jesus told the disciples in Matthew 17:20: “Nothing will be impossible for you.” Notice the action is on the disciples. Likewise, to move your mountain, you and him will do it together.

Faith in God unlocks your belief that anything is possible, and with every mountain defeated, you grow stronger in your faith with God. Remember, God makes everything possible.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, everything is possible with You. Help me grow my faith as we work together to defeat my mountains.
